Phlebotomy/Laboratory Procedures
Module 1
 

The Phlebotomy and Laboratory Procedures are a key factor in being a Phlebotomist.  The Phlebotomy Technician is the person responsible for the drawing of blood as instructed by the physician or other health care professional. Most people have their blood drawn at medical examinations, during hospital stays and outpatient settings. Upon completion you will be qualified to take a National phlebotomy certification examination.
During this course you will learn many different ways to draw blood.  You will also learn about Anatomy & Physiolgy of the Circulatory System, Bloodborne Pathogens, Infection Control, Medical Terminology, Lab Procedures, Universal Precautions, Specimen Identification, Venipuncture of children, Specimen handling and procedures and Customer Service. 

Phlebotomy Plus holds the NCCT Phlebotomy
Exam on site every other month.

 

Clinical Medical Assistant
Module 2 

The graduate of the medical assisting program will be able to perform routine clinical duties, to keep the offices and clinics of physicians running smoothly.  You will be the primary liason between the patient and the physician. Your training will include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting the physician during the examination.  You will also be trained to collect and prepare laboratory specimens or perform basic laboratory tests, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments, instruct patients about medication and special diets, prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician, authorize drug refills as directed, draw blood, prepare patients for x-rays, take electrocardiograms, remove sutures and change dressings. 

 

EKG/Paramedical Examiner
Module 3

The EKG Technician is an extremely important member of the health care team. The physician diagnosis of heart disease is based upon the interpretation of EKG Tracings. A well trained EKG Technician is an important part of the management of patients with heart disease. EKG's are also performed before and after operations, during physicals, for patients with a history of heart disease, when patients are experiencing chest pains, and when the physcian deems it neccessary. You will receive training in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology of the heart, EKG Interpretation, Specilized procedures of EKG, and EKG equipment and supplies.
